Product Description
110V - 277V Electrical Dimmer Switches 0 - 10V Dimmable Light Switch
110-277V Electrical Wall Type 0-10V LED Dimmer Controller Dimmable Light Switch
Introduction
A 0-10V driver, also known as a 0-10V dimmable LED driver, is a power supply that uses a low-voltage DC signal to control the brightness of an LED light fixture. This type of driver is commonly used in commercial and theatrical lighting systems.
The '0-10V' refers to the voltage range of the control signal, where:
10V = 100% brightness (full light output)
0V = 0% brightness (light is off or at its minimum level, normally 5% to prevent the driver from always working when slider is at the bottom)
10V = 100% brightness (full light output)
0V = 0% brightness (light is off or at its minimum level, normally 5% to prevent the driver from always working when slider is at the bottom)
A compatible 0-10V dimmer is an electronic controller specifically designed to produce this 0-10V DC control signal. When you adjust the dimmer's slider or knob, it sends a corresponding voltage to the driver, which then adjusts the light's output accordingly.
Important Note: You cannot use a standard triac dimmer (the type of dimmer commonly used for incandescent bulbs) with a 0-10V driver. Triac dimmers work by rapidly cutting off the AC power waveform, a process called phase-cutting. This type of signal is incompatible with a 0-10V driver and can cause the driver to fail, flicker, or behave erratically.
Key Performance Advantages
- Smooth and Flicker-Free Dimming: Unlike phase-cut dimmers, 0-10V dimmers control a low-voltage DC signal rather than the high-voltage AC power, allowing for smooth dimming down to 1% or even 0.1% of the light's output without flickering or buzzing.
- High Precision: The linear relationship between voltage and light output provides very precise control over light levels, crucial for creating specific ambiances.
- Scalability: A single 0-10V dimmer can control a large number of fixtures simultaneously, making it ideal for managing lighting in expansive areas like warehouses and commercial spaces.
- Energy Efficiency: Fine-tuning light levels enables significant energy savings and can extend the lifespan of LED fixtures.
- Compatibility: 0-10V dimming is a widely recognized industry standard (IEC 60929 Annex E), ensuring good compatibility between different manufacturers' dimmers and LED drivers.
